Astronomical-Geographical Clock by Father Rinderle

This clock by Father Thaddaeus Rinderle (1748-1824) is among the most original creations of the so-called priest-mechanics. It displays the cycle of sunrise and sunset, lunation, eclipses, the course of the terminator (day/night boundary) during the year as well as the difference between real solar time and mean time. A wooden movement from the Black Forest propels the clock. Rinderle’s clock shows it is even possible to present complex knowledge using simple materials.
