Early Pocket Watches

The first pocket watches originated in the early 16th century. Technically, they were not fully developed and their accuracy left a lot to be desired. For instance, there was only an hour hand for indicating the time.

Yet, being extraordinary items, these watches were held in high esteem. The watches were worn visibly around the neck or on a belt. Lavish decorations and the use of cut rock crystal make these watches attention-getting fashion accessories.
