Pocket Watch, "La Prolétaire"
Georg Friedrich Roskopf, La Chaux-de-Fonds, c. 1870
For years, the watchmaker, Georg Friedrich Roskopf (1813-1889), would dream about making a low-priced yet good pocket watch. His breakthrough came with the "Prolétaire". His formula: a simplified movement with a pin pallet escapement, a case made of an inexpensive silver alloy, the lack of all unnecessary ornamentation. This watch is from the first series.
